New Personal... Nevermind

Tonight's visit to the gym started on an upnote. The scale in the men's locker room told me that I had lost between 20 and 25 lbs. That's 20 to 25 lbs. from the light end of my range.
And, I sort of believed it. I wanted to believe it. I've been taking my meds; getting enough sleep; exercising; taking various vitamins, minerals and herbs; eating bran flakes - I'm due a major weight loss.
So, I got on the elliptical, punched all the numbers in, and... I ran faster, averaging in the 140 to 150 stride range. That's a good sign,. right? But, weighing 20 to 25 lbs. lighter, I didn't burn the calories as quick. In fact, it didn't look like I was going to break the 1,000 calorie mark in 65 minutes. Oh well.
So, how'd I do? Well, I ran 8,350 strides burning 925 calories in 61 minutes. I was burning about 15 calories a minute so with 4 minutes left, I would not make 1,000 calories. Close. Maybe 985, but not 1,000. Damn!
I did some weight machines until the 30-minute warning came on the loud speaker, then went down to the locker room and onto the scale that had been so kind earlier.
I was twenty lbs. heavier.
I'm normally four lbs. lighter after a run. I sweat that much!
The scale must be having it's moments. Figure the scale was accurate the second time around and I was light earlier by some twenty-four lbs.
Betcha if I told the elliptical my TRUE weight before hand, I would have set a new personal best. After all, 1,000 calories last time was 8,500 strides. All I would have needed was another minute. DRAT!
