  1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks.

  2. That would depend on the location.
    • If it were man-made, in Northern Illinois, and connected to a lake, that would be a "channel".

    • If it were man-made, in South Florida, and paralleled a road, that would be a "canal".

    • If it were man-made, in South Florida, and in a development, that would be a "lake".

    • If it were natural and in Northern Virginia, than would be a "run".

    • Otherwise, if it were natural, I'd probably call it a "creek".

  3. What the thing you push around the grocery store is called.

  4. A Shopping Cart.

  5. A metal container to carry a meal in.

  6. A Lunch Box.

  7. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in.

  8. A Frying Pan. Although, I have an egg poacher that I use for eggs, and often microwave the pre-cooked bacon.

  9. The piece of furniture that seats three people.

  10. Sofa, Couch or "Davenport".

  11. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof.

  12. Gutters.

  13. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening.

  14. Porch.

  15. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages.

  16. Pop. But, I've been down south so long, I might call it a "soda".

  17. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup.

  18. Roadkill? Sausage? OK. How 'bout a pancake.

  19. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself.

  20. Sub. However, it's also a hoagie, a hero or a po' boy.

  21. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach.

  22. Swimming trunks. Although, I used to go to the nude beach and the answer then would be "a cap".

  23. Shoes worn for sports.

  24. Tennis or gym shoes.

  25. Putting a room in order.

  26. Picking up.

  27. A flying insect that glows in the dark.

  28. Lightning Bug.

  29. The little insect that curls up into a ball.

  30. Pill Bug.

  31. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down.

  32. Teeter-totter

  33. How do you eat your pizza?

  34. This is a loaded question that reflects a cultural bias. Real pizza is supposed to be round and cut into squares.

  35. What's it called when private citizens put up signs and sell their used stuff?

  36. Garage Sale or Rummage Sale.

  37. What's the evening meal?

  38. Dinner.

  39. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?

  40. In South Florida, the answer would be "sand", and we wouldn't have a furnace. In NC, my furnace is in the attic. We don't talk about the "thing" under the house in the crawl space.

  41. What do you call the thing that you can get water out of to drink in public places?

  42. Drinking Fountain.
