- If it were natural and in Northern Virginia, than would be a "run".
- Otherwise, if it were natural, I'd probably call it a "creek".

This is a loaded question that reflects a cultural bias. Real pizza is supposed to be round and cut into squares.

In South Florida, the answer would be "sand", and we wouldn't have a furnace. In NC, my furnace is in the attic. We don't talk about the "thing" under the house in the crawl space.
