The other day, I was in the local "big box" store. (If you MUST know, it WAS that one. The one with the McDonald's just inside the front door and the attached supermarket just past the ladies garments.)

In any case, I had gotten whatever it was that I came in there for, and as it was close to dinner time, I thought I'd save myself a little effort and pick up something quick for dinner.

I noticed that green beans were now being packed in individual servings, much like the diced peaches in extra light syrup. As I'm in the habit of giving the dogs a few green beans in with their breakfast and dinner, I thought these individual quarter-cup servings would be a perfect size, and I bought a few 4-paks.

Later at home, I noticed that the green beans were imported from Thailand.

After living in South Florida, you kind of get used to the idea of some of your fresh produce coming in from Chile. After all, It's summer there when it's winter up north, so you can get your fresh veggies year 'round.

But, canned green beans? From Thailand? They can actually grow, package and ship green beans from Thailand cheaper than those grown in the States?
