Yesterday
I got to the gym a bit after eight in the evening. That meant that I wouldn't have enough time to do a full hour run AND work out on the weight machines. I'd have to cut my run down to a half-hour.
I jumped on the scale in the locker room. Surprisingly, I weighed in about 10 to 15 pounds "light". I'd be jumping for joy, if I hadn't been tricked by the scale before. The next time I weigh myself, I'll be 20 pounds heavier. Mark my words.
I ran 30 minutes / 4,000 strides / 450 calories. That's about my norm for a short run. I then went over to the weight machines.
The old three torso machines have been replaced by new ones. I'm not really keen on the new one for doing torso rotations, but I did 2 sets of 15 at 140 lbs. on the machine that has you straighten your back against resistance.
There is also a machine that has you bend forward against resistance. The new arm rests are not adjustable, and they want you to grab these handles while resting your elbows on these pads. Not with these arms! The distance from my wrists to my elbows must be exceptionally short. I can grab the handles OR rest my elbows on the pads. Not both. I'm also not sure how far I have to lean forward. I've got two different sets of obstructions in my way.
Today
I got to the gym about three in the afternoon and I felt great! I'd have time for a full hour run AND catch a few of the weight machines I missed yesterday.
I decided to see if I could break the 1,000 calorie mark by continuing to run during the five minute "cooldown period" at the end of the hour. That would mean that I'd have to watch my times, strides and calorie count throughout the run and do better than 8,125 strides / 925 calories at the end of 60 minutes.
Woohoo! I ran 65 minutes / 8,801 strides / 1,007 calories! Combined with the 450 calories from yesterday, I've done a respectable 1,450 calories this week!
