Firefly - Disk 4

I started watching Disk 4 of the "Firefly" series and got to the episode, entitled "The Message", where the fellow soldier mails his body to Mel and Zoe.

Around the 40:00 mark, I said to myself, "How in the heck are they gonna manage to wrap this up in four-and-a-half minutes? There just ain't no way!" And, they did it!

One of the things that I've really enjoyed about "Firefly" is that you don't recognize any of the episodes as being from another show and "recycled". Everything seems to be fresh ideas, shot for the very first time.

If anyone out there likes science fiction, and hasn't gotten the chance to watch the "Firefly" series, I'd like to strongly recommend that you do so. It's really good stuff!

UPDATE: I just finished watching the final episode, entitled "Objects in Space". Unbelieveable. I especially loved Richard Brooks ("Law & Order" fame (1990-1993)) as bounty hunter "Jubal Early". Wow! What a great episode! What a great series!

i loved the series, when it first came on. The engine room of the firefly is so retro 19th century, you expect steam to come out of valves. My favorite thing about the series is that they curse in chinese! You have a good idea what they are saying, they curse with passion but kids can watch the show! Well kids that don't know manderin! I think the movie wraped everything up also.

I've programmed Netflix to send me the movie "Serenity" after I finish with the "Firefly" series.

I'd say that I'm looking forward to the movie, but that also means that the greater "series" comes to an end and I'm not looking forward to that.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, an Internet search for "Blue Sun" shows that there are a number of places still selling "Blue Sun" t-shirts. At least one has received their "cease-and-desist" letters from the FOX legal department, but it seems a bit unfair.

While I do recognize the idea of "intellectual property rights", it doesn't seem likely that FOX is going to get into the "Blue Sun" t-shirt business - or, for that matter do anything more with "Firefly/Serenity". So, what's the point, other than that they can.
