The Second Refrigerator

A few years back, Home Depot was selling canned beverage dispensers. You could load them up with beer or soft drinks and at the press of a button, have one come rolling down the chute frosty cold.

I wanted one. But, I wasn't about to part with $500.

I just bought a mini-fridge. Just for canned beverages. I've got it loaded up with beer and soft drinks. True, it doesn't have a button to dispense my beverage of choice, but it was over $300 cheaper.

thats awsome, are you using it as a night stand? lol i have seen that done especially for diabetics so that there is insulin and juice available if needed, a friend of mine said he wanted one as a night stand just to have the cold beverages handy after seeing it in a movie...lol

Are you using it as a night stand?

You know, you reminded me, a long time ago, I was having thoughts of putting a mini-fridge in the bedroom. Not for insulin or anything. Just for those real long "naps" you could take on a weekend with a dear friend.

Actually, my fantasy has expanded.

I'd like a little room off to the side that would have in it: a table for two, a small area equipped with a small microwave, the mini-fridge, an electric coffee maker with timer, a sink, and some cabinets.

At least you save some money. Did you get one with a lock on it? How will you keep the roomies out of it.

Did you get one with a lock on it?

Yes, I did. But, the idea isn't so much to keep them out of it. The idea is to have a place to chill drinks. The regular fridge just isn't big enough.

I believe the one I got is the 4.6 cubic foot size, and stands just tall enough that you could slide it under a kitchen counter. I did not get one with a freezer compartment. I wanted to maximize all the space for cold beverages.

Sounds like the fridge we have at work. We open and close the door so much that the freezer compartment is always frozen solid with ice.

I still would think that having it sitting on top of your other fridge.... oh nevermind its not funny anymore.
